Arrival in Cape Town, South Africa

Hallelujah, we have arrived in Cape Town......today, Monday at 1:30 p.m. their time. We left Rochester after our flight connection in Washington, D.C. to Cape Town had already taken off....because of the tornados, ice, etc in Chicago (our plane was coming from Chicago). So, when we arrived in Washington, D.C., it was stand in line for an hour only to find out that the flight we thought was "booked" for us as a back-up (by Rochester) wouldn't actually work. We ended up flying Saturday evening to London. When we arrived there Sunday morning, we literally had to run to catch our next flight for Frankfurt, Germany. They held that plane a couple of extra minutes for us. Upon our arrival in Frankfurt we went out for several hours (even though it was 23 degrees F and we had no winter clothes) to Romer, the older part of the city. It was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. Late Sunday evening we flew from Frankfurt to Cape Town on Lufthansa Airlines (it is a wonderful airline). One of our pieces of luggage is still in London. The other three arrived this morning in Cape Town--just before us. We're hoping the fourth piece of luggage arrives tomorrow as it has Judy's sneakers, sunscreen, etc.

Obviously, the schedule didn't go as planned. But, who would have thought that we'd be touring Frankfurt, Germany, among folks in fur coats while we shivered in our summer clothes? God does have surprises in store for his children; as we're sure there are yet many to come.

Please pray that fourth piece of luggage catches up with us. We are thankful that the suitcases which contained medicine, textbooks and various things for Kenya are here. But, it will be great to have all accounted for.

We're going to bed early to get our "clocks" adjusted after sleeping two nights on airplanes!

We were thrilled to spend time with family over Christmas. Now, our bags are packed and we are ready to close up the house in preparation to being away from Rochester's winter weather! We are so thankful for neighbors and family who will take care of the house in our absence. Our hearts are full as we anticipate what God has in store for us over the next 5 months. We leave tomorrow afternoon (12/27) from Rochester, to Washington D.C. and then 15 hours straight through to Johannesburg. After a stop-over in Jo'burg we will be in Cape Town Sunday evening.

Today we shared a "moment for missions" at Pearce Church. It was well received.
